Emily Cheung - Soprano

Studying under Bruce Pullan in the School
of Music at UBC, Emily Cheung is a recent graduate of the Bachelor in Voice Performance programme. Recipient
of numerous awards and scholarships for her solo work
from Kiwanis, BCAPAF Provincial Festival, and other
music festivals, she is a Vancouver Women's Musical
Society 2005 Bursary recipient and recently presented
a full recital for the VWMS. Emily has had the pleasure
of studying under the tutelage of Anne Monoyios, Rufus
Müller, Ivars Taurins, Jeanne Lamon, and Marshall
Pynkoski (Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute, Toronto),
Ellen Hargis, Doreen Oke, Ray Nurse (Early Music Vancouver
Baroque Vocal Programme), Marisa Gaetanne (UBC), and
Patricia Hoebig. Emily joined the Vancouver Chamber Choir in 2005. For two consecutive years, she represented British Columbia in the prestigious National Youth Choir, which toured Saskatchewan and Manitoba in 2004 and in British Columbia last May. In other musical endeavors, Emily was recently seen as Tuptim in Theatre Under the Stars' production of The King and I, for which she was awarded the E.V. Young Award/Scholarship for Most Outstanding Performance. Every Sunday, she sings in The Holy Rosary Vocal Quartet at Holy Rosary Cathedral, Vancouver. Emily also adores bubbles. |
