Jennifer is a native of Calgary, having moved to Vancouver in February 2006 to pursue her artistic interests. She studied voice with Donald Bell at the University of Calgary, graduating with a B. Mus. in Voice Performance and a Minor in Drama. She also holds a Diploma in Music Performance from Mount Royal College, studying with Elizabeth Johnson and MRC Vocal Studies Program instructors.
Jennifer started her musical studies in accordion at the age of 5 and shortly thereafter was introduced to her greatest passion – choral music. She has had the privilege of performing with a variety of choral ensembles in Calgary and Alberta, including the award-winning Mount Royal Youth Choir and University of Calgary Jazz Ensemble, University of Calgary Chamber Choir, Alberta Honour Choir, Ad Libitum and OnCue. In addition to appearing as a chorister and vocal soloist, Jennifer has an extensive theatrical resume, running the gamut from opera and musical theatre to contemporary productions. She appeared as Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (U of C) and won the Pumphouse Theatres One-Act Play Award for her role as Martha in Anatomy Lesson. She has since worked with a variety of theatre companies including Maple Salsa Theatre (Calgary), New West Theatre (Lethbridge), Primordial Theatre Productions (Edmonton Fringe), Canadian Heritage Arts Society (Vancouver/Victoria), and her own self-directed creation for the Solocentric and Mutton Busting Festivals/Horizon Zero (One Yellow Rabbit High Performance Rodeo, Calgary). Jennifer has long awaited the opportunity to perform with choral musicians of the Vancouver Chamber Choir’s calibre and is simply ecstatic to join the choir as a full-time singer! She also currently teaches voice and piano at the White Rock School of Music and Dance. |
