Magali Coustalin - Alto
|
Magali was born in the Canadian province of Quebec and raised in North Vancouver, British Columbia. As a child, she began singing in local choirs, and later she studied voice for several years. Magali is a graduate of the Music Program at Vancouver Community College, and received her Bachelor of Music in Voice from the University of British Columbia.
Magali joined the alto section of Vancouver Chamber Choir in September 2000. She enjoys preparing for and performing the Choir's challenging and varied repertoire as well as the fast-paced work environment. Magali is the Choir's Representative to the Board of Directors of the VCC. Her favourite experience with the Choir occurred during the 2002 tour of Mexico. The Choir was performing the very heart-wrenching and romantic music of Guastavino with Linda Lee Thomas on piano in the historical theatre in Queretaro. Their singing was accompanied by a terrific thunderstorm; the lights went out at a crucial moment in the middle of a piece and the Choir sang on as though nothing had happened. Outside the Choir, Magali does some freelance solo singing, and makes up one-third of the medieval music vocal trio Chanterie. |
